Sealants are a special coating that fill and protect the pits and fissures on the back teeth. The deep groves on these teeth are hard to properly clean and plaque build ups can form. These plaque build ups can lead to cavities from the acid produced by the plaque. Cavity prevention is much better than cavity treatment and sealants do just that.

Procedure
Placing a sealant is a simple and painless procedure. First, teeth will be cleaned and dried and the conditioning solution is applied. The tooth’s surface is now ready for the sealant. Sealant material is brushed into the grooves and crevices of the tooth and must harden. It can either harden on its own or a curing light will be used to harden it. A sealant is the best way to stop cavity before they can form.
